Daily Grind – A Poem by James LaMear

Daily Grind is about one of those days I think we’ve all had.  You know the type of day I’m talking about.  It starts with a list of tasks on your plate, then you spend the entire day adding things to the list without being able to cross anything off.  You start geared up to get ahead, and you end up behind.  Those are the day’s I’d rather be anywhere else.  And those days were the inspiration for Daily Grind.

Daily Grind

Daily Grind

Daily Grind

In the office safe and sound
Instead of traipsing the world around.
I’ve got a mortgage and bills to pay,
So I’ll see the Great Wall another day.
Pushing paper and tracking mail,
Else I’d be tacking with jib and sail.
Projects and lists to do,
So I might skip Paris too.
Headers, footers, fonts galore,
But I hear Hawaii’s quite a bore.
To and from the office I’ll go,
Rather than ski on water or snow.
Leave the world outside, I don’t mind,
I much prefer this daily grind.
