Sing That Ring

This poem came to me one day while overhearing someone else’s conversation.  A friend had been talking about her boyfriend and the discussion turned to proposals.  She knew it was coming, but said he was waiting for the right time and situation.  For some reason, my overhearing that discussion translated into this poem.

Sing That Ring
Sing That Ring

Sing that ring
And she’ll say yes.
No need to shave
Or wear fancy dress.
Don’t buy the sky
Or work to death,
But sing that ring
And she’ll say yes.

Don’t get uptight
Or chase the gold.
Don’t be the best
Or break the mold.
No treasure or talent,
Bought or sold,
Could sing that ring
Like love so bold.

Take her hand
And from the heart
Your faith and hope
And love impart.
With these in mind,
Right from the start,
Sing that ring
Till death do part.
